Breakthrough vs Native Guide

Breakthrough vs Native auras in Sol's RNG: biome multipliers, when BT helps, and when it ruins your odds.

← Back to Guides

What is Breakthrough?

Breakthrough (BT) allows rolling biome-exclusive auras when you are not in that aura's native biome. The catch: BT odds are always worse than Native odds inside the correct biome.

Example: LEVIATHAN is native to RAINY. Rolling it during RAINY gives the best odds. Rolling it during any other biome uses Breakthrough odds — significantly worse.

BT Multipliers by Biome

Each biome has a Breakthrough multiplier applied when rolling exclusives outside their native environment. Rare biomes like GLITCHED have extremely low natural spawn rates, making BT the only option most of the time — but some exclusives have no BT path at all and require native biome presence.

Time of day (DAY/NIGHT) adds parallel BT multipliers. Equinox, for example, ties to the day/night cycle with a 10× BT modifier.

When to Use BT vs Native

  • Use Native: Always prioritize rolling inside the correct biome when possible
  • Use BT: When the biome spawn rate is too low to wait (GLITCHED at ~0.01%)
  • Use Tools: Strange Controller, Biome Randomizer, and Runes bypass waiting entirely
  • Never BT: Some Challenged+ auras require both native biome AND weather conditions
